Check if it's already built
Pick a field, add the decisions you would make — who it sells to, what the free plan looks like, where it is sold — and see how many teams already shipped exactly that. Counts, not a verdict on your idea.
Counts and shares are open to everyone. Product names and the quotes behind them need an account.
How it works
Your idea is a set of decisions, so that is what we count
“Is this taken?” is the wrong question: almost every field has something in it. The useful question is how many teams made the same three or four decisions you are about to make.
- 1
1 · Start with a field
Pick the field your idea lives in. The count you see is every product in the record that launched into it in the window.
- 2
2 · Add a decision
Sells to consumers. A usage-capped free plan. Sold through a store. Each decision narrows the set, and the number after each step is the real count, not a projection.
- 3
3 · Read what is left
If four teams already shipped your exact setup, you are looking at their pages in one click. If one did, that is a different conversation than “someone probably has”.
A real chain
From 123 to 1, in three decisions
This is a measurement from the bench, not an illustration: a four-day window, one field, three decisions on top of it. The number under each step is how many teams matched at that point.
Every match is quoted
A product is in the count because its own page says so, and the sentence is kept with the answer. Keyword matching alone is not enough, because “no AI” and “AI” contain the same word.
Absence is an answer
A product that does not publish a price is not counted as free. It is recorded as not stated, and the counts say so.
Small numbers stay small
Below a floor we show the number instead of a percentage, because a share out of nine products is an anecdote wearing a percent sign.
No score, no verdict
We do not tell you whether to build it. The count and the pages behind it are the finding; the decision stays yours.
Frequently asked
Prior art questions we get
Is my startup idea already taken?
Ask it as a set of decisions instead. Pick your field and add what you would decide, and the bench shows how many teams shipped that exact combination in the window, with their pages behind the count.
How do I know if someone already built my app idea?
The bench counts products from 12 public launch boards, read page by page. A match means the product's own page states the same decisions, and the quote is kept with it.
How is this different from an idea validation tool?
Validation tools return a score generated by a model. This returns a count and the pages it came from. Nothing here predicts whether your idea will work.
Do I need an account?
Counts and shares are open to everyone. Product names and the quoted sentences behind them need an account.
How current is it?
New launches are read every morning, so the window you are looking at ends yesterday, not last quarter.
