How to choose which feature to build next as a SaaS founder

Your backlog has twenty good ideas and you can build maybe two this quarter. One customer wants an integration, another asks for better reports, and you have a hunch that a new onboarding flow would matter more than both. Every option sounds reasonable when you look at it alone. You pick one, mostly based on who asked last or loudest, and spend the next weeks wondering if it was the right call. With a small team, a wrong bet costs a whole quarter. Investors and advisors give confident opinions, but each of them sees only part of your situation.

The short answer

Quectis is an AI decision-support workspace for SaaS founders and product leaders. You describe the decision, and it creates genuinely different courses of action instead of one plausible answer.

01Why the usual way fails

Feature decisions rarely have one obvious answer. The evidence is scattered across support tickets, sales calls, usage data and your own instinct, and none of it is complete. Most founders anchor on the first plausible option and then look for reasons to support it, instead of comparing real alternatives. Scoring frameworks help a little, but the scores often just repeat the gut feeling in numbers. And the assumptions behind each option, such as "customers will pay more for this", are almost never written down and tested.

02How Quectis helps

Quectis is an AI decision-support workspace for SaaS founders and product leaders. You describe the decision, and it creates genuinely different courses of action instead of one plausible answer. It surfaces the key assumptions behind each option and tests them against evidence and your constraints. Then it recommends the strongest option with its reasoning visible, and turns it into an approval-gated plan with concrete next steps. Quectis does not take real actions in your other tools; execution is simulated so you stay in control.

03Step by step

  1. Write down the decision, for example which of three features to build next.
  2. Add your mission, constraints, objectives and the evidence you have.
  3. Review the different options Quectis generates and the assumptions behind each.
  4. Check the recommendation and the reasoning it shows for it.
  5. Approve the execution plan and start on the first concrete step.

04Tips

  • Compare at least three real options, including "do nothing". If you only consider one feature, you are not deciding, you are confirming.
  • Write down the assumption that would make each option fail, then look for evidence for or against it before you commit.
  • Tie the choice to one goal for the quarter, such as activation or retention. A feature that helps a goal you are not chasing can wait.
  • Keep the reasoning, not only the decision. When you review the result later, you can see which assumption was wrong instead of just feeling that the bet failed.
