Disk Census: A Mac disk cleaner that works with your AI agents
For when you need to Mac disk full what can I delete.
Finds caches, build files and app leftovers filling your Mac and says what is safe to delete, for Mac users and developers short on disk space.
What it does
Safe to Clean list
Caches, logs, build output and old versions that rebuild themselves are grouped so you can clear them in one go.
“Each item says what it is and if it's safe to remove.”
Developer Tools view
Build files and package caches are grouped by tool, with a note on which ones rebuild on their own.
“Disk Census groups them by tool and shows which ones rebuild themselves.”
AI agent leftovers
Old versions, caches and logs from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and similar tools are found, while chat history is listed but never offered for deletion.
“Conversations and sessions are listed with their size, never offered.”
census CLI and agent skill
You or your coding agent can scan and clean from the terminal, and the engine refuses to delete anything census didn't list.
“It can delete only what census listed.”
Large Files and Duplicates
Your biggest files appear in one list with when you last opened them, and identical copies sit side by side.
“Your biggest files in one list, with when you last opened each one and where it is.”
App uninstaller
Removing an app also finds its caches, settings and support files, and anything uncertain is left unticked.
“Anything it can't tie to the app for sure is left unticked.”
Free space widget
A desktop widget shows how much room is left, and the app warns you when space runs low.
“A desktop widget shows how much room is left, and Disk Census tells you when space runs low.”
Shareable scan reports
You can save a scan as JSON, Markdown, HTML or CSV with home-folder names hidden before you share it.
“Save a scan as JSON, Markdown, a self-contained HTML page or CSV, with home-folder names hidden when you share it.”
What Disk Census doesn't do
- It doesn't run on Windows or Linux; it is a Mac app for macOS 12 or later.
- It doesn't have a free trial or a free version.
- It doesn't move deleted files to the Trash; deletion is permanent, and only for the items you approve.
- It doesn't cover more than 3 Macs per key, and a key is for one person.
- It doesn't work fully offline forever; each Mac has to check in online at least once every 60 days.
