01Why the usual way fails
Stored lead databases are a snapshot, so businesses that closed, moved or changed numbers stay in the list for months. Many tools fill the gap by building an address from a name and a domain, which looks complete but often bounces and can hurt your sender reputation. Shared inboxes like info@ get mixed in with personal emails, so you cannot tell who you are writing to. Checking every site yourself works, but it does not scale past a few dozen businesses. If you cover several cities, the manual work grows with every new town you add, and the list is already getting old by the time you finish it.
02How loclay helps
loclay runs each search live on Google Maps, so the businesses you get are the ones listed today. Then it reads each business's own website, the homepage plus up to three contact, about and team pages, and pulls every published email, phone and social profile. It names a decision maker only when the site names that person in a role, and it labels every contact with the page it came from. If a site names nobody, the decision maker field stays empty instead of being filled with a guess.
“Every search pulls businesses live, then our AI reads their websites while you watch.”
“Reads the homepage plus up to three contact, about and team pages”
03Step by step
- Choose a business type, such as plumber or roofer, or type your own.
- Pick a country and add every city you want to cover in one search.
- Watch the leads stream in as each business website is read.
- Check the source label on each email and phone before you use it, and open the page it came from when a contact looks unusual.
- Save the leads to a list or export them as CSV for your outreach tool.
04Tips
- Treat shared inboxes as business contacts, not as the owner. loclay keeps them separate, so write a different first line for info@ addresses than for a named person.
- Never send to an address built from a name-and-domain pattern. A guessed address may look right, but it is the fastest way to collect bounces.
- Use the free 50 leads to test one niche in one city first. You see how many owners are named before you pay for a bigger plan.
- Keep the source page with each lead in your CRM. When an owner replies and asks where you found them, you can answer honestly in one line. That small detail builds trust, and it also helps you clean the list later when a business changes its site.
