01Why the usual way fails
Most workout apps are built for full tracking, with plans, logins and syncing, which is a lot when all you want is a number. Phone counters mean taking the phone out between every set, and a paper notebook gets wet and lost. Counting in your head works until you get tired, which is exactly when the count matters most. A small, dedicated counter on the watch is the simplest fix, but many watch apps still depend on a phone connection. Some watches have a basic counter built in, but it often has one number only, no names and no way to stop a sleeve from bumping it. When you train several exercises in one session, a single unnamed counter is not enough.
02How Tally Counter App for Wear OS helps
Tally Counter is a counter that runs on your Wear OS watch. You tap to add or remove one, or turn the crown or bezel to change the count. You can save several named counters, lock one so it does not change by accident, and keep the current counter on a Tile. It works without a phone connection, an account or the network.
“Tap to increment or decrement”
“Use the rotating crown or bezel to adjust the count”
03Step by step
- Install Tally Counter on your Wear OS watch.
- Create a counter for each thing you track, for example reps, sets or rounds.
- Tap the screen or turn the crown after each rep.
- Lock the counter while you move between machines so it does not change.
- Add the Tile so you can see and raise the count without opening the app.
04Tips
- Count sets, not only reps. A second counter for sets tells you at a glance how far into the workout you are, which helps when you lose track during long sessions.
- Use the crown when your hands are sweaty. Turning the crown is easier to control than tapping a wet screen.
- Lock the counter before you walk, stretch or carry weights so a sleeve or a bag does not add a rep by accident.
- Keep it for more than the gym. The same app works for swimming laps, inventory counts, scores or attendance, so one watch app covers most manual tallies.
