01Why the usual way fails
The official information exists, but it is spread over many sites, and third-party pages copy old numbers long after the rules change. The steps also depend on each other: you cannot open a bank account without an address, and you cannot ask for housing aid without a bank account. A generic checklist shows everything at once, so you cannot tell what matters this week. On top of that, some rules are removed or changed during the campaign, and nobody tells you when they do.
02How Mbeng — Ton parcours pour étudier en France helps
Mbeng is a free guide built by a student who just went from Cameroon to France through the same process. You answer four questions about your project, level, situation and arrival date, and it shows you one next step at a time, chosen by your deadlines and by what that step unlocks. Each step has its own sheet with amounts, dates and a link to the official source, plus the date it was last checked. When you tick a step as done, the next one unlocks, so you always know what to do now.
“Une seule à la fois, choisie selon tes échéances et ce qu'elle débloque.”
“Chaque montant et chaque date renvoie à sa source officielle, avec la date de vérification.”
03Step by step
- Answer the four questions about your project and situation, without creating an account.
- Open your next step and read its sheet, with the amounts, dates and official links.
- Add the deadline to your calendar or turn on reminders.
- Use the question box when you are unsure, for example to ask what Campus France costs.
- Tick the step as done to unlock the next one, and keep going until you are settled in France.
04Tips
- Always check the date next to a figure. Mbeng shows when each value was verified, and the official pages it cites are re-read every week, so an old blog post should never win over a dated official source.
- Look at real waiting times before you book your flight. Mbeng collects anonymous reports from students who went before you on interview, visa and housing aid delays, and shows them once there are at least 5 answers.
- Remember that Mbeng only informs you. It does not build your file or take payments, and all procedures happen on the official sites, where Campus France and the embassy make the decisions.
- Share the step sheet with your study group instead of retyping numbers from memory. One shared official link avoids the wrong figures that spread in group chats.
