Rivet: AI coding agent that runs on your Android phone
For when you need to AI coding agent for Android phone.
Lets developers code with an AI agent on an Android phone: it reads, edits and runs a project folder using their own OpenAI or Anthropic key.
What it does
Works in your project folder
The agent reads, searches, edits and creates files in the one folder you pick, and nowhere else.
“Reads, searches, edits, and creates files in the folder you pick.”
Runs commands on the phone
You watch each command run live and can stop it if it goes wrong.
“Runs commands on the phone. You see them live and can stop them.”
Three approval modes
Ask approves every step, Basic YOLO lets small steps run alone, and YOLO never stops to ask.
“Three modes: Ask (asks before everything), Basic YOLO (small stuff runs on its own), YOLO (no prompts).”
Undo with checkpoints
If an edit goes wrong, undo takes the project back to a checkpoint.
“Messed up? Undo takes it back. Checkpoints keep it safe.”
Switch model mid-chat
Change provider, model or thinking level in the middle of a conversation without restarting.
“Switch provider, model, or thinking level mid-chat. No restart.”
Bring your own key
Use OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible API, or sign in with a ChatGPT plan.
“Bring your own key: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, or any OpenAI-compatible API.”
Follows AGENTS.md
The agent reads the AGENTS.md file in your project, so your house rules apply on the phone too.
“Reads AGENTS.md in your project, so your rules stick.”
Web preview on the phone
You can open a web project's preview on the same phone right after the edit.
“Previews web projects on the phone.”
What Rivet doesn't do
- It doesn't come from Google Play; you install the APK from the GitHub releases page.
- It doesn't run on iPhone or iPad; it is an Android app.
- It doesn't sandbox commands; they run like any normal app on the phone.
- It doesn't replace a backup; undo only covers the agent's own changes.
- It doesn't edit text files larger than 1 MB.
- It doesn't work offline, because the model runs at your provider.
- It isn't part of Termux, even though it runs commands on the phone.

Questions people ask
8 answers, each tied to a line on github.com.
Is it free?
Yes. The app is free and open source under Apache-2.0. Your AI provider may still bill you for the API calls.
Source: github.comDo I need my own API key?
Yes, or a ChatGPT plan. Keys from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible API work.
Source: github.comWhere is my API key stored?
On your phone. It is stored encrypted and the developers never see it.
Source: github.comIs it on the Play Store?
No. You download the APK from the GitHub releases page and open it, and Android asks you to allow the install.
Source: github.comWhich Android version do I need?
Android 8 or newer. You also need an internet connection for the model.
Source: github.comCan it touch files outside my project?
No. It only works in the folder you pick, but inside that folder it can change files.
Source: github.comCan I make it ask before every change?
Yes. Ask mode asks before everything; Basic YOLO and YOLO let more run without a prompt.
Source: github.comDoes it update itself?
No. Settings, then Check for updates downloads the new APK, checks it is genuine and saves it to Downloads; you tap it to install.
Source: github.comTablif reads github.com and writes this page; every line comes from the product's own pages. The founder can correct or hide any line. Tablif publishes one welcome page; after that, new pages go live only after the founder approves them. The Tablif Town game below never changes what is written here.
