Why the usual way fails
Hiding a photo in the gallery app usually just moves it to a hidden album that anyone can open with a few taps. Many vault apps lean on their own cloud, so your private files end up on servers you know nothing about. Some show ads or lock basic protection behind a subscription. And a vault that obviously holds secrets can put you in an awkward spot when someone asks you to open it in front of them. Plain file-hiding tricks also leave thumbnails and copies behind, so the photo you thought was gone can still show up somewhere else.
How Xsilent helps
Xsilent Vault is an offline photo vault for Android that protects selected photos, videos and PDFs on the device itself. You do not create an Xsilent account or give an email address, and private files are encrypted one by one with AES-GCM instead of being stored on TSI Dev Studio servers. A Dynamic Decoy lets any other valid PIN open a separate gallery of ordinary photos, so you choose what someone else sees. It is free for the first 30 files, and Lifetime is a single Google Play purchase.
“Use the vault without creating an Xsilent account or sharing an email address.”
“Private files are encrypted individually using authenticated AES-GCM encryption.”
Step by step
- Install Xsilent Vault from Google Play. There is no account to create.
- Set your Master PIN, and optionally turn on biometric unlock.
- Import the photos, videos or PDFs you want to keep private, or send them from the gallery with the Share menu.
- Set up the Decoy gallery with ordinary photos for moments when you have to open the app in front of someone.
- Create an encrypted backup with a separate password and save it where you choose.
Tips
- Write down your backup password somewhere safe and separate. Xsilent cannot recover a lost Master PIN or backup password.
- Delete the originals from your normal gallery after you import them, and check the gallery's own trash too. A vault does not help if a copy is still sitting in the regular albums.
- Use Clean Share when you need to send something out. It makes a copy with faces blurred and sensitive metadata removed, and leaves the encrypted original unchanged.
- Keep your phone itself secure. The vault adds a private space, but it does not replace a screen lock, and a rooted or compromised device weakens any app's protection.
Questions
Does Xsilent upload my photos to a cloud?
No. It does not automatically upload private content to TSI Dev Studio servers, and it has no cloud storage service of its own.
Source: tsidevstudio.comIs it free?
Free for your first 30 files. Lifetime removes the limit with one payment and no subscription.
Source: tsidevstudio.comCan someone take a screenshot of the vault?
Not of protected areas. Xsilent blocks ordinary screenshots and screen recordings there, though an external camera could still photograph the screen.
