The story

It is a Tuesday evening and the gym is full. The lifter has twenty minutes less than usual and no wish to dig the phone out of a locker between every set. Before leaving home, they had already saved their usual upper-body day as a template in FlexLog on their Wear OS watch.

At the bench they open the FlexLog Tile, start the workout and the template brings up the first exercise. After the first working set they enter the reps and weight with the watch controls. The rest countdown starts, and a short buzz on the wrist tells them when it is time to go again. They do not look at a screen in between.

Halfway through, the cable station they planned to use is taken. Instead of waiting, they switch to another exercise in the open session and come back to the cables later. When a friend stops to talk, they pause the workout and resume it a few minutes later without losing the sets already logged.

The basement has almost no signal, which used to break their old app. It makes no difference here, because the watch logs on its own and the phone is still in the locker.

On the way out they glance at the exercise history on the watch. The bench numbers sit next to last week's, and the heaviest-weight record shows they are close to a new top set. That is enough information to plan Thursday.

At home they open the phone app. The recent watch summary is there to look at, read-only, next to the phone routines they use on days without the watch.
